DAY 1 - LONDON - DARLINGTON
We meet our Tour Director this morning and drive north to the university town of Cambridge. Then on to York, where we walk through narrow cobbled streets to the Tudor 'Shambles' and we see York Minster, England's largest medieval cathedral. (D)
DAY 2 - DARLINGTON - EDINBURGH
It's away to Scotland today, across the wild Northumberland Moors and past the romantic ruins of Jedburgh Abbey to Scotland's elegant capital of Edinburgh. (B)
DAY 3 - EDINBURGH - CHESTER
Leaving Edinburgh this morning, we drive through the Southern Uplands. Then it's on to Gretna Green, where many an eloping English couple have been married. Then a delightful drive through Lake District. (B,D)
DAY 4 - CHESTER - LONDON
This morning we see Chester's unique black and white 'Rows' (shopping arcades) and the town walls which encircle them. Next stop is at the world-famous Wedgwood China factory. Further south, we arrive in Stratford-upon-Avon, where we visit Shakespeare's birthplace. From Stratford we travel along long-established roads through the Cotswolds. Finally we return to London where our memorable tour ends. (B)
